The Planet Smashers | Unstoppable
Released 9.05
Stomp Records

The Planet Smashers are back with yet another solid album from these giants of Canadian Ska. If you are not familiar with the Planet Smasher’s sound you can expect catchy horn lines, sing-along choruses and hooky two-tone influenced ska, well informed by modern punk and occasionally 60’s era ska. On this album the Smashers returned to the studio with Chris Murray as a producer who they used on their seminal album, Life of the Party and again came away with solid songs and production. Overall, it’s no great departure from previous Smasher’s records. They’re at their best when they are writing catchy pop-ska songs and have mastered this craft, creating their own sounds while proving themselves to be one of the best live acts on the road today. Standout tracks include “Bullets to the Ground” (check out the video for this song), “Raise Your Glass” (their latest classic party anthem), and “Bad Mood” (their latest light-hearted look at an unpleasant side of relationships). If you are familiar with the Planet Smashers you know what to expect and you won’t be disappointed. If not then this is a good place to start in addition to the previously mentioned Life of the Party album.
